"I already told you that forgiveness does not create a relationship. Unless people speak the truth about what they have done and change their mind and behavior, a relationship of trust is not possible. When you forgive someone you certainly release them from judgment, but without true change, no real relationship can be established." (p. 225)

this is great! thanks - I wrestle with this quite a bit.
Have you been spying on me??? :) I have forgiven... but...
Oh Wow! When we forgive someone for wrongs they have done to do us, it does not release them from judgment. They still have to repent of their sins to God and ask forgiveness, and even then they will not be forgiven unless they have accepted Jesus as the Son of God and that he died on on the Cross and rose again. That person must accept Jesus as their savior.
Acts 19:4 (New American Standard Bible)
4Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
2 Peter 3:9 (New American Standard Bible)
9The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
